Epilog

Epilog

Epilog is a spin-off of Ghent University and develops software for the automatic analysis of EEG and MRI data for a diagnosis of epilepsy.
Neurologists can perfectly see where the epileptic signals originate in the brain. However, the technology offers many more possibilities. Alzheimer's disease is next on the list to tackle for Epilog.

Spin-off, young but experienced
Epilog is a company, specialized in medical devices that develop software for the analysis of brain signals. More specifically, brain signals that are recorded on the basis of EEG (Electroencephalography). Epilog offers this software as a service. As a spin-off of Ghent University, Epilog has access to technology and expertise, based on more than 15 years of research. The Epilog service platform is the ideal way to get that technology and expertise to the customer.

Now and later
Epilog's first product, Epilog PreOp, is aimed at epilepsy patients, CE approved and ready for clinical use. It analyzes EEG recordings and, based on anatomical scan of the brain, can estimate where the epileptic signals originate. Very useful information for neurologists who want to diagnose patients who can not be helped with medication and where surgery is the best solution.

In the long run, Epilog wants to market better validated EEG technologies for various diseases and different age groups. Alzheimer's disease is given special attention. Through the standardized and advanced way of working, we hope to become the go-to partner in clinical trials, based on EEG research.

The BlueHealth connection
We participated in the BlueHealth call after a call within the imec.istart trajectory that we were participating in. We already had talks with UCB and UZA before the call and already worked with Cronos for the development of the platform. Participating was, of course,  a way to strengthen existing contacts and build new collaborations. We are now working with UCB. We got a place at their booth at the "Mobile Health Devices and Seizure Detection" conference in Copenhagen, early July. The intention is to promote the interaction between Epilog, UCB and other startups.
